Aussiedoodles can be great family dogs. They're energetic, friendly, social, and relatively obedient. Some of this is innate in these dogs, but it also has to do with the way they are raised. If you follow the tips below when raising your Aussiedoodle puppy, they'll grow up to be a lovely, enjoyable dog to be around.

Tip #1: Take them to obedience classes.

Aussiedoodles are not the most difficult dogs to train, but since they can be quite energetic, it is important that you train them consistently. The best way to initiate training is to take your pup to obedience classes. This will give you a framework to use as you train your pup. Not only will you get to practice during the classes, but you'll generally be assigned exercises to work through at home with your puppy. This early focus on training will help your puppy to grow up mannerly and obedient.

Tip #2: Make sure they get lots of exercise.

Australian shepherds are very high-energy dogs bred for herding. And many Aussiedoodle puppies inherit this high-energy disposition. If you want your pup to be quiet and well-behaved inside your home, then you need to make sure they have an outlet for their energy. Take them outside to play in the yard for an hour or two each day. As soon as they're old enough, take them to a dog park or for walks around the block. Aussiedoodle puppies that are cooped up and don't get much exercise are much harder to train.

Tip #3: Brush them daily.

The long, curly coats of Aussiedoodles need to be brushed often to prevent tangles. Your puppy might not look like they need much grooming just yet. However, beginning to brush them early on will get them used to being brushed, which will make it much easier for you to brush them when they're older. Start brushing your pup for just a couple of minutes per day, and give them a treat as soon as you finish. Use a soft brush at first, and work up to a stiffer brush once their coat gets longer. As they adapt to brushing, you can slowly make your sessions longer.

Raising an Aussiedoodle puppy can be so rewarding. If you follow the tips above, you should find that your pup grows into a loving, obedient dog that you and your family members enjoy spending time with.
